I can’t believe it’s been over a year since I deejayed Maliha and William’s wedding – but it was such a fun and memorable day, I just had to blog and share it with you guys!
They were married on a beautiful day in August which provided the perfect setting for their garden ceremony. During the ceremony, a solo flutist connected to my mic system and played in the background while one of the groomsmen served as the officiant. It was really touching to see such a close friend marry the bride and groom.
I mean, how pretty is that view?! It doesn’t get much better.
Cocktail hour was being held in the garden and mansion where I had a great mix of cocktail music playing. The Bridal Party and Bride & Groom were introduced to This Will Be (An Everlasting Love) by Natalie Cole once it was time to move to the Conservatory for the reception.
The couple shared their first dance as husband & wife to Catch the Wind by Donovan.
Notice the glass doors leading out to the garden? Definitely gorgeous views but also an important part for a story to come later in the blog.
As you can see, this was such a fun crowd! They were a non stop dancing crew. I played a mixture of Oldies, Top 40’s and some traditional Afghan music that Maliha provided to me. During the reception, there was also a beautiful Henna Ceremony that was held.
The flowers and cake were designed and made by the mothers of the Bride & Groom…so extra love and care was put in! They did a great job.
William and his mother sharing their Mother/Son dance. I love how happy they look!
Maliha and her father danced to Joe Crocker’s Darling Be Home Soon for the Father/Daughter dance.
Now here comes the story I mentioned earlier ….During the dance portion of the evening, I suddenly heard a loud shriek over the music that was playing. I looked up and out of the corner of my eye I saw a 5 foot long black snake on the dance floor! I realized it must have entered from the garden through the open glass doors. I had never seen anything and before I even knew what was happening the snake was coming towards me in attack mode! With 60 or so onlookers, I JUMP onto my DJ chair (as if this would protect me from an aggressive 5 foot snake). The snake makes it about 3 or 4 feet towards my table, when, out of nowhere, the BEST MAN comes and grabs the snake by the TAIL (as soon as this happens, you hear 60 people collectively scream). He calmly takes the snake out the door, walks 15 yards away from the room, tosses the snake into the bushes, and reenters the room to a grand applause. Get that guy a drink!
Clearly the snake didn’t stop this group and only added to the excitement! Congratulations to Maliha and William!
